The second-hand shopping app has altered its sizing categories for women's and children's clothes without notifying all users about the change. Social Media Response Numerous buyers and vendors have taken to social media saying Vinted listings now show a different size category than originally posted due to the recalibration. The company said the new system was more in line with other platforms. It has advised users to check their listings and update the measurements by hand when needed, which has left users frustrated. Sizing System Modifications Earlier, the sizing featured one number and one letter, for instance S/8 or M/10. The updated approach includes a letter with a size spectrum for example S/UK 8-10. For certain items, the sizing has been recategorised - for example a size L used to be a 12 but currently displays as UK 16-18. Shopper Stories One content creator, who produces content about larger sizing, stated the update "complicates both purchasing and selling". "Rarely do manufacturers list XL as sizes 20-22," the way the service now categorizes. Stephanie Gallen, based in Glasgow, explained products she uploaded featuring size 14 markings were appearing on the platform as larger sizing 20-22. "Should someone sized 20-22 purchase these they may become frustrated," she explained. Required Changes A different user, from Derby, said she had been left angered by the change as she had to manually change the sizes on "every single listing". "This situation is especially annoying, as I'm chronically ill and selling on Vinted has been paramount for me since losing part of my income," she said. Service Background The service features exceeding 100 million shoppers, comprising 18 million UK members. It has proved a popular alternative compared to resale services such as eBay and Depop. This represents another occasion where an unanticipated change on the platform has faced criticism: previously, the service retracted a modification to its shipping options following member complaints.
